Fifth Avenue Aerie
This is the third residence we’ve designed for this client, so there was complete trust and a natural working relationship. With a coveted view of The Metropolitan Museum, I redesigned the interiors with full respect for the Upper East Side character, but with a contemporary approach. Most striking is the 30-foot gallery with varying stripes in contrasting limestone, which carries up the walls and across the ceiling, providing a dramatic impact. The oak floors were bleached to a pale gray, giving the space a dreamy lightness against a controlled collection of only five colors throughout. Black, gray, ivory, pale blue, and an unexpected dose of cranberry velvet create a monochromatic, relaxing haven.
