About

John Willey is an Interior Designer celebrated for his thoughtful and refined approach in expressing his clients’ points of view with provocative and luxurious results. Since launching his namesake firm in 2006, Willey Design has renovated projects throughout the United States, including New York City, Los Angeles, the Hamptons, Connecticut, and Nantucket. Prior to that, John managed renovations in London, Miami, the Caribbean, and the Bahamas. Willey Design’s experience and passion is evident in their striking results: smart, polished, graceful, relaxed. Formerly based in New York City, John Willey has recently transplanted to Litchfield County, Connecticut, where he has a second home nearby.

John’s work has appeared both nationally and internationally, in Elle Decor, House Beautiful, Architectural Digest, The New York Times, Veranda, Luxe Interiors + Design, Forbes, and Better Homes & Gardens, to name a few. John has been featured in multiple hardcover design books, including Living In Style New York by teNeues Publishing, and Luxurious Interiors and Interiors New York, both by Panache Publishing. John has also been a guest speaker on Martha Stewart Living’s “Home Design” segments, has led interior design speaking engagements nationwide, and in 2009 was awarded the International Furnishings & Design Association (IFDA) Rising Star of Interior Design award.

Experienced in all phases of interior architecture services, Willey Design provides clear, logical architectural solutions that improve and enhance the interior surroundings. Furnishings are an unexpected mix of classic and modern, suffused with bold colors and proportions that bring an elegant blend of sophistication and irreverence to their interiors. Comfort and function are essential components, with practical details carefully observed and orchestrated. Every project is a true collaboration with each client’s tastes, needs, and budgets firmly in mind.

Current projects include the combination of two adjacent landmarked New York City townhouses into a 12,000 square foot showpiece, an oceanfront residence in La Jolla, California, a 24,000 square foot estate in Scarsdale, New York, and continuing renovations throughout New York City, Westchester, and The Hamptons.

“Interior design shouldn’t be considered a luxury service. It’s for everyone interested in improving their lives in small and large ways by surrounding themselves with what brings them joy. For me, great design is a mix of smart investment items and unique selections. This helps to achieve the space’s full potential with a breath of fresh air.”
